Finally

Finally, the government is stepping up in the Ivory Coast.  On Saturday, Clinton called for Gdagbo to step down, and for both sides to stop the killing of innocent civilians.  The Ivory Coast is in the middle of a civil war after Former President Gdagbo refused to leave office after losing the election to the internationally recognized winner, President Ouattara.  Last week, an attack left over 800 civilians dead, according to the Red Cross.  Its about time the international community did more to protect civilians and end the civil war there.  If we are supposed to be the leaders of freedom and protector of human rights, as we claimed in invading Iraq and intervening in Libya, then we should also take charge in the Ivory Coast.  I'm not saying the US military should go into the Ivory Coast, but its important that we at least lead the call for the international community to step up and end the killing of the civilian population and for Gdagbo to go, immediately.
